These photographs show bird skeletons displayed side by side at the Paris Zoological Park, each caught at a different stage of flight. Animated in sequence, their frozen positions become continuous movement again.
The gesture is simple, but it reverses their condition. Dead bodies, immobilised and put on permanent display, begin to fly again. The loop keeps them moving indefinitely: it gives them a semblance of life while condemning them to repeat the same flight forever. Death brought the movement to an end; the image refuses that ending, but can only replace it with endless repetition.
